Benjamine Yarbrough and student "former World Champion Gil Castillo"
selected for "King of Vegas" final qualifying.

Hello fellow gamblers,

I have just returned from Atlantic City (N.J.) where, after being selected from thousands of applicants, I competed with some of the top gamblers in the country in the final qualifying round--the contestant seated next to me was "Steve Zoin?" who finished 2nd in the World series of poker a couple of years ago. (Anyway they will select 12 supposedly "top gamblers" from around the world) for the King of Vegas 10 episode gambling competitions to be filmed in Las Vegas and aired on Spike TV in 2006. Admittedly, At 55, I am probably too old, slightly podgy, and generally not that “good looking” so my chances for making the final group will be slim. (Apparently, how one looks on camera will be one of the final determining factors on who is selected for the final group and who isn’t).

Even if I am not selected, one of my High Stakes students Gil Castillo (a world champion welterweight Ultimate Fighter) who was selected for the qualifying round in Los Angles, may make the final cut. I wish him great luck!

Be Well!
Benjamine Yarbrough

Below is the letter from the “King of Vegas” staff regarding the Qualifying round.

Wardrobe:
Please dress as though you are going out for a big night of gambling at your favorite casino. We want to see the real you, so don't hold back! However, please stay away from wearing all white, all black and big logos across your chest, as they do not come across well on camera.

What to bring:
Please bring a PHOTOCOPY of your driver's license or passport with you and a pen.

What to expect:
You will play a few different casino games with other applicants. Our staff will be evaluating your play, but we will not be judging you solely on whether or not you "win." You may or may not need to stay the whole day.

Homework:
Your homework between now and Sunday is to brush up on your blackjack, craps, Texas hold 'em, pai gow poker, and Caribbean stud game play. We are rooting for you. Good luck!

Based on successes in other areas, and the financial boldness this promotes in tackling new challenges (like casino gambling), no group is more "IN NEED" of the insightful assistance a good coach can provide. Also, considering that most casinos seem to be lining up to take advantage of these players in one way or another, I have decided to teach them how to fight back by winning more often.
